Mike Moreno's book does a (yet another!) take on low carb diets, with the added innovation of the arbitrarily chosen 17 day figure.
Main ideas from the book:
1. For the first 4 days, eat a lot of chicken, turkey, fish, and vegetables.
2. Learn to like green tea.
3. Walk for 17 minutes every day. (cute)
4. Remember, any diet will only work if you continue with it for a long time.
So, it is not actually a 17-day diet.
No 'day/month diet' are about that period, remember this.
