BJP spokesperson Navin Kumar Singh Navin Kumar Singh was arguing with Mufti Ejaz Arshad Qasmi of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board on the issue of making singing Vande Mataram mandatory in schools, when the latter challenged him to sing the national song right then. Result: Even after reading from a mobile, the politician couldn't do it properly.
Other times BJP leaders have failed to sing Vande Mataram:
During another television show, UP’s minorities welfare MoS Baldev Singh Aulakh was unable to sing the song as well.
In a show for The Wire during DUSU elections this autumn, an ABVP leader fails to sing Vande Mataram, and resorts to the usual rhetoric that he will only sing when the NSUI leader will sing.
It only goes to show how hollow symbolism has made us all.
