Tihar Jail is a 400 acre complex and is the largest in South Asia according to Wikipedia. 14,400 inmates. Only 20% are convicted criminals. Rest are undertrials (80 of whom have served five years and above). 50% of all convincted are serving life terms. 14 people are on death row, all men. About 32% of the convicted are charged with murder. About 14% are serving time for rape. 58% of all male prisoners are in their 20s. Women tend to be mostly between 30-50. 6.6% of all prisoners are between 18-21 years of age. 70 prisoners are over 65.
