The irony of the Indian bullet train: RTI query reveals 40% seats on Mumbai-Ahmedabad trains go vacant

On November 1, 2017 By newsroom Topic: India

An RTI query has found out that 40% seats on Mumbai-Ahmedabad trains, the route on which the bullet train will run, go vacant.

Reasons: 1. Train travel on the route may be slower than competing modes of transport.

2. Air fares on BOM-AMD route can be had for Rs. 2300, give or take a couple of hundred rupees, if purchaced sufficiently in advance.

Again the question rises about why not spend the money to fix the existing transport infrastructure first?
