Most hybrid cars cost about $3,000 to $5,000 more than a regular car, but they can save you money (and the s=environment) in the longer run. There are more than 35 hybrid models on sale in the US alone. Basically, choose the hybrod that gives more mileage.
When choosing hybrid cars, experts suggest to look at the mileage in a new light: Convert the published mpg figure to gp100, or gallons burned per 100 miles driven, because that figure will give you a better idea of how much fuel you have burned / saved every 100 miles.
There are also Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, or PHEVs, in the makret, which come with larger batteries, and thus batteries are the main use. Then there are mild hybrids, which you don't need, because time has come now to start dithcing oil based economy and better start with non-half measures.
