Referendums for secession a trend?

On October 9, 2017 By newsroom Topic: Politics And Government

While Catalans fight to set up their own nation, news has come of "The South Is My Country", a movement where Brazilians in the south have been asked in an informal vote whether they want to be part of a new country.

Catalonia is not alone in trying for secession in Europe. Venice already had a referendum in 2014 , whicg saw 62% turnout, and 89% votes towards yes. Keep in mind that Italy has been a unified country only since 1871.

Back to Brazil. Uruguay got independence from Brazil in 1825.
