Okay, first let's be clear about something: this quick guide is for young people who are really too 'busy' to read serious news and susally go for the fluffy freesheets and entertainment sections. As if we weren't clear enough, the guide is from an article in Glamor Magazine. Here goes:
- Read each page-one article up to the "jump line" (the line that directs you to another page for the rest of the story.) Editors front-load the important details so they fit on page one.- Skim headlines in the rest of the paper then absorb the first paragraph and read the last sentence of each piece. You'll get the story without trudging through every word.
