Navin Jindal and Why Youth is so overrated in Politics

On May 19, 2010 By pramitsingh Topic: Politics and Government, India

It wasn't enough that Shashi Tharoor had proven quite successfully why  the entry of profesionals into politics is so over-rated. Now Navin Jindal has displayed the fallacy of hoping too much from the entry of youth in politics. The rich guy, son of a late rich and powerful guy, no surprises there, only the rich are able to get into the Parliament nowadays, the MP from Kurukshetra now says he wants to mediate between Haryana's dreaded khap panchayats and the Centre.

Meditate? WTF? Who ever said the Banana republic of Khaps deserved to be accorded so high an importance in a democracy? Just by offering to mediate, Jindal panders to his rural votebank in Haryana, giving a legitimacy to the Khaps.

Youth, Professionals, whatever, politicians will be politicians. They will sell whatever they need to get to power.
