India General Elections 2019: How to deal with one-sided TV news debates

RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav has a good solutions. In an open letter, Tejaswi has appealed to opposition parties in India to boycott one-sided TV debates, because most of TV media in India has alinged itself with the ruling BJP party and their news debates are pre-scripted. Some points raised by Tejaswi in his letter:

1. Many TV news anchors have dropped even the “pretence of impartiality in their conduct of debates on issues of national importance”.

2. TV news anchors have “gone ahead to spout vitriolic hate in the Indian society, and incite violence”.

3. Nws channels have come to be fully controlled by “fascist tendencies” and no rational debate was possible in their debates.
