Installing a bidet seat is a straightforward task requiring minimal tools and about an hour. Here’s how you can do it:
Water Supply:
- All bidet seats connect to your toilet’s water supply valve, located behind or beside the toilet.
Electricity:
- Most bidets need a GFCI-rated outlet (with "test" and "reset" buttons) for heating water and air drying features.
- Ensure the power cord (typically 42-48 inches) can reach the outlet. If not, use a grounded, outdoor-rated extension cord if your bidet manual allows it.
Tools Required:
- Flathead screwdriver.
- Slip-joint pliers.
Turn Off the Water Supply:
- Locate the water supply valve and turn it off by rotating it clockwise.
Remove the Existing Seat:
- Unscrew the bolts securing your current toilet seat and set it aside.
Install the Mounting Plate:
- Place the bidet’s mounting plate over the toilet bowl’s bolt holes.
- Align and secure the plate using the provided hardware.
Attach the Bidet Seat:
- Slide the bidet seat onto the mounting plate until it clicks into place.
- Adjust the fit if necessary.
Connect the T-Valve:
- Disconnect the water supply hose from the toilet tank.
- Attach the T-valve (included with your bidet) to the water inlet on the tank.
Reconnect the Water Supply:
- Connect one end of the bidet’s water hose to the T-valve and the other to the bidet seat’s water inlet.
- Reattach the original water supply hose to the remaining T-valve opening.
Turn the Water Back On:
- Slowly open the water supply valve and check for leaks.
Plug in the Bidet:
- Connect the power cord to a GFCI outlet.
With this guide, your bidet seat installation will be smooth, efficient, and rewarding. Enjoy the comfort and cleanliness!
