Vinegar and Baking Soda:
Carpet Spray: Mix 1 cup of white vinegar, 2 cups warm water, and 2 teaspoons baking soda.
Hydrogen Peroxide :
Use a 2:1 peroxide-to-water ratio with a few drops of dish soap for spot cleaning.
Laundry Detergent:
Effective on bedding and carpets (don’t dry items until the odor is gone!).
Dish Detergent :
Mix with hydrogen peroxide and warm water to combat smells quickly.
Work Quickly :
Use paper towels or rags to blot the area and soak up as much urine as possible.
Clean the Pee:
Use an enzymatic cleaner or a 1:1 vinegar-water mixture. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
Neutralize the Odor:
Sprinkle baking soda over the spot and let it foam with vinegar. Cover with a damp towel for 24 hours, then vacuum.
Rinse the Spot:
Use cool water and, if possible, a wet vacuum or carpet cleaner.
Freshen Up:
Use a black light to find dried urine stains (glows green or yellow). Mark the spot with tape.
Clean the Carpet:
Scrub with a 1:1 mixture of vinegar and water. Blot until dry.
