It is not that attachments are risky, but attachements are 'maya'. You get interested in something and then it all maze. Life becomes a series of 'what ifs' and 'why nots , and 'why mes'. The Buddha said:

“Embrace nothing:
If you meet the Buddha, kill the Buddha.
If you meet your father, kill your father.
Only live your life as it is,
Not bound to anything.”
