How To Be Remarkable #76: Learn from Steve Jobs (for busness savvy)

Some time back, Apple Computer became more valuable than its long-time arch competitor and PC industry behemoth Microsoft. Reasons for Apple's success in this decade are commonly known: iPad, iPhone, iPad and a cult-like following. The man responsible for Apple's remarkable turnaround from the difficult days in the mid-1990s is Steve Jobs, a relentless and remarkable man.

In some quarters, Steve Jobs is famous for making great presentations. He is the presentation guru, as far as I am concerned.

We can go on and on about what makes Steve Jobs remarkable. Some will say 'design sensibility'. Others will say he is very ruthless.

But, then many of us are relentless people. Designers are dime a dozen nowadays. What else?

This blog post gives it a try and points to three things that makes Steve Jobs remarkable:

1. Steve Jobs uses his customers and nearly every major media outlet to do his marketing for him.
2. Steve Jobs is famously extreme.

He’s known for extreme tyranny when it comes to operating his business and bringing his dreams—every last detail—into reality. His secrecy is extreme too. Even his wardrobe—the jeans, New Balance shoes and black mock tee—is extreme in its consistency.

3. Steve Jobs adapts to the market tastes.

While Jobs’ fashion sense doesn’t change, he knows that his business must continually adjust to changing tastes—which is step 10 in Godin’s guide to being remarkable:
