By 10, a kid ought to love the idea of reading - exploring worlds, repeating distinct/intriguing words, prases and quotes, and begin to grasp the sheer enormity of the world outside. Note: You will only find only 18 entries below but thenyou will also find many of those are authors, all of whose books you should read.
The classics
1. All the books by Jules Verne (the original science fiction author - 19th century - I liked "The Island")
2. All books by HG Wells (another science fiction pioneer)
3. All books by Charles Dickens (some may be put by flower, detailed language, but he was the original upon which others built - leaving aside the popular Great Expectations and David Copperfield, go for Blaek House, Hard Times)
4. All books by R L Stevenson - While Treasure Island is a favorite, go for Travels with a Donkey
5. All books by Robert E. Heinlein (sci-fi pioneer in America, you will like his politics too)
6. All books by Enid Blyton
7. The Hardy Boys books

Young person out in the world
